Make new friends
But keep the old
The first is silver
The last is gold
I am having a tough time keeping up with old friends and still having time to hang out with all the great new friends I am meeting. As a full-time working mother, it is becoming harder and harder to find time to nurture ANY kind of friendship with all that is going on, but I know that it is very important not to get caught up and lose touch. I thought of creating a schedule for when I should contact my friends, but this just seems so very "unfriendly". In my mind, the whole thing is supposed to be sort of a "been thinkin' about ya... how are ya?!" Kind of thing. It feels weird to have to schedule or "pencil in" my friends! Why is this so hard for me? When I was in high school, the first thing I'd want to do is get on the phone. Now the time investment just seems so high when balanced with kid's homework, his activities, etc. Sorry for the babble. Any answer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
How can I honor old friendships, yet still have time to keep in touch with all the great new friends I meet?
As a mother you don't have to spend full time with any of your friends. Calling, writing notes or sending cards regularly keeps you in touch with them without stealing quality time from your family. If you agree to meet, schedule it ahead so you could find someone to be with the kids. Have the meeting only for a few hours, so you could concentrate on re-bonding. A personal schedule for contacting your friends would be nice - especially when you have to take time to buy presents or cards for an upcoming occasion or celebration.
Reply:there really is no solution to your problem cause we are having problems with the word, "busy" and its really hard, but if i were your friend its enough that you would try to actually contact me, when you have the time and place me in your schedule
Reply:My mom's always talkign abotu how she misses being able to talk to some of her old friends, and she regrets not trying to contact them...
Personally, I think it's great that you're actually putting out the effort to get into contact with them. Maybe you're a bit busier now... a lot busier, and probably more tired, but at least you try, right?
Now, with the wonders of e-mail, it's alot easier to get in contact. You know all those times after the kid(s) are asleep and you've got nothing to do? A quick e-mail's always the easiest solution. Just a quick 'Hi!' when you've got the time is great.
Reply:I don't know why it's hard. I have 4 kids and time for my friends. You must be doing something wrong.
Reply:How about if any of your friends have kids you have your kids have a playdate and do there homework and activities together...that way you have a life and so does your kid!

How does a great guy meet/date a girl when both their friends ruin the meet, even though they like each other?
women say im very confident and often ask me if im single. I am and im not interested in being a player. but it doesnt matter how confident or genuine i am, either her friend will do stuff to pull the girl away even though she has already admitted shes into me, or my freinds says so many useless things or acts odd - he bores her friend and so the friend pulls the other girl away! The uk dating scene is very hard and even though i meet women during the day and in pubs/clubs its so hardcore id have to give up my day job to be successful. Ive got my own life and i dont need a woman, but iwant a quality one... i realsie i may have to date a few before i find someone right for me. Im an attractive guy with a great life and a good job, but it seems almost impossible to make a connection in pubs/clubs over here. and if youve just met someone, the girl is often going to have to pick her friends over you, cause she just met you and has known them for ages.any ideas on how to be more successful?

I have no problems meeting lots of girls, but I wish I had the formula for meeting the right kind of girls and getting them to like me. Just relax, don't go out looking to pull just have a good time when you are relaxed girls are relaxed around you. You may meet the right one first time or after a hundred times but you'll have a lot of fun whatever you do.
Reply:Be nice to her mates?? Often when a guy is chatting up a girl and her mates arent being chatted up - its like they're just left there and ignored so my advice would be to whilst spend a special focus on the lady you like - dont cut her friends like they're invisible!!
Draw them into the conversation and they'll warm to you far quicker and not think you're some kind of jerk trying to steal their friend away from them!!! From being in "chat up" situations - I always encourage my friends to be friendly towards the guy and go out of my way to introduce them all to each other - then the guy normally discovers they're a nice bunch and goes off to get his mates to talk to them and everyones quite happy!!!

I think you need to widen your social circle and do things where you will meet quality women.
Go do other things that you are interested in, activities which you know women participate in. If your friend or friends are boring the women around them, go without them. You will have more opportunites to meet women in, say, salsa, art or language classes when you are on your own.
As for the pub/club thing, if the woman you like is pulled away by her friend, walk after her and say to her that she seems like a nice person and you would like to get to know her a little better over a coffee or something and then exchange numbers with her. You have to 'close the deal' even though there seem to be obstacles like her friends and your friends.
Also, get yourself out to more parties. Ask the people you know what's going on in your area. Join groups whose interests you share. Just get out there and socialise. Do different things every week. You will at least have experiences which connect you to wider and wider amounts of people, which will give you more opportunites to meet the quality woman you are seeking.
The more women you meet in places where there isn't the competition of alcohol, noise and friends who are pulling them away, the more likely it is that you will meet someone who will stay and talk long enough for you to do the number exchange in a relaxed way. Good luck.
Reply:Go out on your own, then your friend cant stuff it up for you.
Get a better looking friend that will keep the girls friend interested while you work you magic.
Alot of uk girls are stuck up and after money, well the ones in the south are. I'm a southerner but find that northern lass's are so much friendly and not as stuck up or gold digging.
A quality girl is hard to find, comprise is the only way but never let one walk all over you I learnt my lesson and wont make that mistake again.
Women like confidence and a bit of arrogance.
Good luck
Reply:Your are taking it too seriously. You should be going out and meeting people and having a good time. When the right kind of person comes along don't take it too heavy, be yourself and suggesting meeting up again sometime. Girls will often hide behind their friends as a means of getting away from something they are not really into, wait for some one who is perpared to make a stand to meet you again. The harder you try the more difficult it is. Relax and the girls will come rolling in!
Reply:MAY be you consder friendship first. It is through friendship that a friend becomes a lover. Its through frienddhip that you get to know each other. Its thru frinedship that, you get to understand and to respects wach other at all levels. LAstly its frienship that creates the bond. So why worry? Meet as many lovely ones as you can be friends and give your self the best bondfree time for as long as it is destined to last.
In good time, nature will reveal your better half. Good luck. I am single anyway.

I would never go on a date with friends (yours/hers) in tow. Don't even tell your friends until there is something to tell them. Nowadays with mobile phones and e-mail you can do the social foreplay easily - however they remain no substitute for talking face to face! If you meet someone and her friends are in tow - give her your number and e-mail address - i.e. on a business card (although don't make the card too cheesy - I have a very simple card - my name, e-mail address and my mobile no. printed on a quality card with embossed ink). Take it easy and don't try to hard - have an open-minded approach and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised.

don't tell your friends till you have established a partnership that cant be broken by peer group pressure.

She told me her friends wanted to meet me. How do I pull this off without blowing it off? Any tips? Thanks!
Her friends want to meet you, what should you do?
You should always be yourself. There must be something about you if she wants you to meet her friends. Don't be someone your not because it becomes hard to keep up the act. You shouldn't have to empress her friends for her to like you.

Reply:Try double dating, that way you only meet a few at a time.
Reply:Treat them nice as how you treat your girlfriend. You have to take note that your girlfriend is always hanging out with them and sometimes their impression or idea on you does have a point. But you have to be sincere and act normally.
Reply:Just chill chill

Reply:its nice to meet her friends. looks like u dont want to meet them but maybe u have ur own reason so tell her why u dont want to.
Reply:Invite them all out with YOUR FRIENDS.
So you can turn the tables, have your friends evaluate hers.
That way instead of interrogating you, you can do that to them.
Women love to be in charge and gossip....dont let them.
Reply:Be yourself. Be confident. Your girlfriend sees something special in you. So, others may see the same as well.

Friend who won't let me meet his other friends?
I have a friend who is so reluctant about introducing me to his other friends...we're both adults by the way. This just seems a bit odd to me. He tells me that they're a private part of his life which I think is complete BS. He talks about them all the time so they can't be too private. I've seen pictures of them, too...so how private can they really be? That's just stupid in my opinion. There seems to be no real reason why I can't other than he just doesn't want me to, which makes no sense to me. We've been friends for over 6 years and I've never met a single one of his friends although he's met all of mine. He seems to think we're in 1st grade and that we're "secret friends." What's your opinion?
Friend who won't let me meet his other friends?
God why are these people so in need of entering a self inflicted prison of pain and emotional abuse? Tell him to go to h*ll and then you go find some self respect and at least one real friend, girl get it together you make us real girls look bad,
Reply:He's not confident enough in himself, OR he's ashamed of you, OR he wants to have other girlfriends. Any way you look at it, I'd say look elsewhere for a guy who will respect you.
Reply:Well, he doesn't have to introduce you to his friends if he doesn't want to. The only reason I could think of as to why he doesn't want you to know,is because he might be afraid once you guys meet, you'll forget about him; become better friends etc. It does happen, I've seen it happen first hand, or maybe they know something you don't. I don't share friends, I know it sounds greedy of me, but I'm afraid if they meet-well you know. Hum.. because I am friends with a lot of different people, then again, I don't know. But this is the only reason why I can think of this. I guess if you want to know you have to ask him.
Reply:thats lame....ask him straight up why...tell him you think thats BS!
Reply:He's married. Or, you know, if not actually married, then he's got a good female girlfriend or lover that he doesn't want to learn about you.
I suppose there's some excuse as to why he's never with you on holidays and his birthday, too, right? He must be very handsome or very rich to get away with this sort of thing in the 21st century.
Reply:It seems to me that if you two have been friends for that long, what's the big deal with not wanting you to meet his friends? Something doesn't seem right about that. It sounds to me as if there is something that he doesn't want you to know about him %26amp; maybe he's afraid that if he allows you to meet his friends that one of them may say something that he doesn't want you to know.
Reply:Good chance that He may be lying to you about who He really is.
Reply:Be careful, you cannot just trust him.
Reply:He is afraid that his friends might tell you things about him , things that he has not shared with you.... that why they are private...like in private lifestyle.. why are u introducing all your friends to him..."yes" becos you have nothing to hide.

What's the best way to make friends and meet new people?
i've been friends with my best friend for over 9yrs. i've always been around her and never met any new people. Now our friendship has ended and i'm completly confused on what to do next. the reason our friendship ended, she was completly snobbish and didn't care about me and didn't want to do anything with me ever since she met her stupid lover, Mark who by the way isn't even good for her the make a horribe couple.
What's the best way to make friends and meet new people?
Depending on your age- join some clubs/groups- take some night classes in art or activities.. get involved with your community- volunteer.. visit a favorite coffee shop or art museum.. something that interests you. Strike up a convo with people..
good luck
Reply:I have probs with friends too. My problem is I don't like to get too close (although people tend to get close to me) and I'm scared I'll end up hurting them cuz I'm just not the best at "keeping in touch". I have moments when I wish I had a bud but other moments where it's like "ugh leave me alone!!!" Now how does someone like ME find a friend? That's a tough question.
Reply:yeah, non helpful but i know how you feel. i hate meeting new people i go really shy. if you want to go meet new people, then if you are in school go to someone you know in a different group and spend some time with their friends. be yourself which is really hard, but at the end of the day, they dont know you so they cant judge you. same goes for if you go uni or college.
