New to area, good way to meet new friends?

I just graduated from college and have moved to a new area. I'm not into the bar scene all that much and would like to meet some girl firends to hang out with. Any good suggestions on how to meet new people?

Well you can always put an add on Meetups.com under activity partners or try Craigs List.
Reply:hang out with the people you work with, join a bowling league, volunteer somewhere, join Big Sister/Big Brother as a "big", take community classes at your local high school or community college, join a church/temple....hope this helps, good luck!

Reply:I can totally relate to your situation, i moved in to a new town a couple of months ago, and i found myself just laying on the bed the whole day with my AP Biology book in my hand. so, i said that i had to get out, you know, hang out with the guys, meet some girls and stuff. And there are many ways to meet new people. First, i decided to go to places that i like, and i found people there that like to do the same thing as me, and that's how i met a couple of new people. second way to do this is to go out and be yourself, get noticed and introduce yourself to new people. let's say for example you see that same girl everyday, go up and say hi or something. there are also other ways that work, but it's dependent on your personality. i wish you the best of luck and hope everything works out.
