How do you meet new friends when your a freshmen in high school?

this is my first year in high school and I'm having problems with meeting new people because I'm always shy and quiet so please tell me what can I do to make new friends.

one of the best tips i've heard for making friends is talking to at least five new people on your first day but try to keep a conversation going not just hi


also try siting next to people you don't know and starting a conversation

Reply:Talk 2 Guyz dat u know. Start conversations 2 friends. Don't act shy have attitude. Im using attitude in H.S.. It workz. Show others dat ur da boss in H.S. Then people will b hanging out wit u. Mk Friends on myspace. I hv one n dat way i mk friends.
Reply:i suggest you try going to after school activities and talk to people in class that you think might be a cool person to hang around with and remember your not gonna be the only one feeling the way you are yeah you may not know anybody in the begining but after a while you will so dont worry
Reply:find people with a common interest that are in more than one of your classes. then they will most likely introduce themselves to their friends. BE YOURSELF

Reply:i was like that too so don't worry you're not the only one. what i did my freshman year i just went up to other people who looked like they knew what they were doing and asked them to help. this usually breaks the ice and you can start up a conversation. it doesn't hurt to have a few upper classmen as friends also.

Reply:this year will be my 1st year in high school too. just try to open up and let people know you can handle being in their presence try to make valuable conversation be polite and share your feelings just try not to offend anyone That will result in major down fall. hope this year will be a blast. focus on your work and not boys 9th year is the year that really counts.
