Supermarkets and bookstores are the two most-overlooked places for starting a casual conversation. Bookstores are the best, as based on the topic of books they are browsing you can easily use that as an ice breaker and go from there. Be sure to choose a bookstore with a cafe in it, that way you can migrate over towards having a coffee together.
